If you’ve never been to our practice before, here are two easy routes you could take:
- If you’re heading from the East Regional Library, take Smithfield Rd south, then turn right onto US-64. Turn left when you’re about level with the Panera bread on the right. We’re at 6807 Knightdale Blvd Suite E.
- If you’re hading from the direction of Anderson Point Park, head north on Anderson Point Dr, then turn left onto Robbins Dr and right immediately onto Rogers Ln. Turn right into New Bern Ave. Make a U-Turn at the intersection with Parkstone Town Blvd, then turn right as soon as possible. We’re in the first building on the right.
How Much Local History Do You Know?
Knightdale’s story begins with explorer John Lawson, who traversed the area in 1701 during his journey through the Carolina Colony. Around 1730, John Hinton became the first European settler in what would become Knightdale, establishing his homestead near the Neuse River. Hinton served as a Justice of the Peace and played a significant role in the American Revolution, including participation in the Battle of Moore’s Creek Bridge and the Fourth Provincial Congress that produced the Halifax Resolve — a document that influenced the Declaration of Independence.
For generations, the area remained a rural farming community, with tobacco emerging as the primary cash crop. The town’s transformation began when Henry Haywood Knight donated land to the Norfolk and Southern Railroad Company in hopes of bringing rail service to the area. Though Knight passed away in 1904 before seeing his vision realized, the railroad soon arrived, and the community was named in his honor. The railroad brought new life to Knightdale, facilitating commerce, transporting goods to market, and attracting railroad workers and their families. Today, Knightdale has grown from these humble crossroads into a thriving community while maintaining its rich heritage and small-town values.
